6-year-old boy from Lorain dies in dog attack

According to a press release from Lorain Police, a six-year-old boy died as a result of a dog attack on July 3.

Shortly after 4 p.m., officers from the Lorain Police Department were called to a residence in the 1700 block of East 31st Street because a 6-year-old boy had been attacked by a family dog, the news release said.

Upon arrival, officers began investigating the details of the incident, the press release said.

Officers were told the boy was presumed deceased due to injuries sustained in the attack. The Lorain Police Department Detective Bureau and the Lorain County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to continue the investigation, the release said.

Further details are not available as the investigation is still ongoing, the press release said.

Lorain Police would like to thank the Friendship Animal Protective League for their response and assistance during the investigation, the release said.

Investigators will release further details at a later date, police said.
