Police investigate man who was attacked while withdrawing money from an ATM

A 69-year-old man was attacked by two young men while withdrawing money from an ATM in the Plaza, 300 block of South Main Street.

On July 2 at approximately 9:24 p.m., police responded to a call of a robbery and observed a 69-year-old male offender in a hunched position holding his left shoulder and limping.

The suspect stated that he noticed two young men riding bicycles in circles as he withdrew $500 from an ATM in the plaza.

He said the suspects approached him from behind as he walked through the 100 block of South Main Street and attacked him.

The victim struck one of the suspects several times, and the suspects left the scene without asking for his money or attempting to take it from him.

The victim was in severe pain, had a scraped knee, scratches on his face and a few loose front teeth. He was treated on the spot by the Paris ambulance service and taken to the Paris Regional Health Office.

The number of unknown suspects is still at large.

A crime of injuring a child/elderly person/disabled person with intentional bodily harm remains under investigation.
