Throughout the summer, Houston Matters is visiting area museums and attractions that might interest you. In the latest episode, we take you to the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston.

Since 1972, the gleaming stainless steel parallelogram-shaped building at the corner of Montrose and Bissonnet has been one of the Houston Museum District’s most iconic places to experience cutting-edge visual art.

In the audio above, Houston Matters producer Troy Schulze stops by the museum to speak with executive director Hesse McGraw about his troubling first months as director, a famously controversial exhibit, the museum’s ties to the community, and CAMH’s unique role in the history of Houston’s museum district.
