Washington Capitals project bottom-six forwards

The Sabers finally made a trade, but it wasn’t the one we really wanted. Buffalo’s roster is still missing that third-line center we’ve been craving, but the longer this goes on, the more we’re starting to think Peyton Krebs is the one booked for that role.

General manager Kevyn Adams traded one of his second-rounders to the Washington Capitals for forward Beck Malenstyn. He looks a lot like Zemgus Girgenssons’ replacement, with six goals and 21 points in 81 games. The 26-year-old ranked fifth among all NHL forwards in penalty killing last season, with the RFA leading the Caps with 93 blocked shots.
