Florida man attacked by monster shark in front of his wife in ‘real Jaws’ scene

A man was attacked by a monster shark in front of his poor wife, which she later described as something straight out of The White shark.

69-year-old Thadeus Kubinski was swimming with his wife Anna in the shallow water behind their house in Boca Ciega Bay, Florida, when he decided to jump from the dock.

This seemingly harmless decision ultimately cost him his life, as the authorities later confirmed.

The splash of his jump attracted a nine-foot bull shark that was searching for food in the water. Tampa Bay Timesafter the tragedy in August 2000.

Bull sharks are notoriously aggressive and typically live near densely populated coastal areas, making them – in the eyes of many experts – the most dangerous sharks in the world.

And the attack on Kubinski is further proof of this assessment.

The 181 kilogram colossus bit Kubinski’s right side at least twice, in front of Anna, who had to watch helplessly.

Since Anna was not a good swimmer, she climbed down the ladder at the end of the jetty instead of jumping into the two-meter-deep water like her husband.

Just before they went swimming around 4 p.m. that fateful afternoon, the couple noticed a “commotion” in the water, officials said.

However, they thought nothing of it and did not notice the bull shark lurking beneath the surface.

“This commotion was most likely the result of a shark chasing or feeding on something,” marine biologist George Burgess of the University of Florida later explained.

“And this spraying of the victim triggered a predatory attack by the shark.”

According to one of the couple’s five sons, Richard Kubinski, who was 44 at the time, Anna and her husband’s eyes met at the exact moment the predator bit.

He said she also saw a dorsal fin in the water and described it as “just like the The White shark Situation.”

She later reportedly asked her son, “Why didn’t the shark take us both?”

Immediately after the attack, Anna climbed out of the water and ran to her waterfront home to call 911.

Paramedics rushed to the scene and pulled Kubinski out of the water, but he was already dead.

The shark bite was about 38 centimeters long and ran in the shape of a crescent moon from his right armpit to his hip, authorities later said.

Local paramedic Rocky Nasso, 39, who had been on duty for 21 years, later told Tampa Bay Times: “In all the years I’ve been doing this, I’ve never seen anything like this in my career, in my life.”
