The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m., when South Houston police attempted to stop a motorcyclist for speeding. The rider refused to stop, leading to a brief pursuit.

Officers pursued the motorcyclist northbound on the Gulf Freeway, but the pursuit was terminated just south of the Loop due to high speeds. However, officers in the area observed the motorcyclist take the westbound 45 to 610 transition ramp.

The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division is conducting a parallel investigation with South Houston Police.

The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
