Russian troops carried out a missile attack on the city of Dnipro on June 28, damaging a nine-story building, said Governor Serhii Lysak.

At least one person was killed and five others injured, authorities said. A seven-month-old girl was poisoned by combustion products, Lysak reported.

The number of victims may increase as rescue operations progress.

President Volodymyr Zelensky shared photos showing four destroyed floors and called on partners to equip Ukraine with more air defenses.

“That is why we constantly remind all our partners: only a sufficient quantity and quality of air defense systems, only sufficient determination of the world can stop Russian terror. We need these solutions, we need a reliable air shield for Ukraine,” said Zelensky.

People are trapped in their apartments, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said. One man was rescued from a car covered with parts of the destroyed building, he added.

Dnipro, Ukraine’s fourth largest city in central and eastern Ukraine, served as an important logistical and humanitarian center during the all-out war.

Russian forces have carried out a series of deadly attacks on the city and surrounding region since 2022.

The attack on downtown Dnipro on the morning of April 19 partially destroyed a five-story building and damaged the railway station. According to the State Emergency Service, three people were killed and 24 injured.

Russian missile attack on Dnipro leaves eight injured, including two children

Russia fired rockets at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro overnight on June 4, causing a fire, said Governor Serhii Lysak. At least eight civilians, including a one-month-old baby and a 17-year-old boy, were injured in the attack.
