Punxsy man behind bars for allegedly throwing his girlfriend to the ground and kicking her in the ribs during a domestic incident

BELL TWP., Pennsylvania (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man is in jail for allegedly throwing his girlfriend to the ground and kicking her in the ribs during a domestic incident.

According to court documents, Punxsutawney State Police charged 24-year-old Brian Keith Scottof Punxsutawney, in the office of District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock.

According to a criminal complaint, a known female victim contacted PSP Punxsutawney on Monday, June 24, at approximately 10:37 p.m. regarding a violent altercation that had occurred shortly before with her boyfriend.

The victim reported that she and Brian Scott had been arguing for the past few days. She said she had been at a friend’s house to talk about the problems she and Scott were having. While she was talking with the “friend,” the “friend” had asked to see the victim’s phone. The “friend” then sent the victim’s private messages to Scott, who was nearby. The victim then began walking away from the “friend’s” residence, the complaint states.

At the time, Scott was traveling on Elderberry Hill Road near State Route 36 in Bell Township, Jefferson County and saw the victim walking toward Punxsutawney. According to the complaint, Scott got out of the passenger seat and began to chase the victim.

Scott then grabbed the victim, grabbed him in the upper chest/neck area and threw him to the ground. While he was on the ground, Scott kicked the victim two to three times in the stomach/rib area, the complaint states.

The victim had visible, fresh injuries, including a semi-circular welt on his side, indicating he had been kicked. Additionally, the victim was found to have bloody elbows and knuckles, indicating he had been thrown to the ground, the complaint states.

According to the complaint, Scott also stole the victim’s iPhone.

He was arraigned before Judge Mizerock on Tuesday, June 25, at 9:48 a.m. on the following charges:

  • Theft by unauthorized expropriation – movable property, misdemeanor 1
  • Simple assault, misdemeanor 2
  • Harassment – ​​Physically harassing others, summary

Since he was unable to raise the $5,000.00 bail, he was placed in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3, at 11:45 a.m., with Judge Mizerock presiding.
