Why do you see people hanging from the tallest building in Buffalo

As you drive through Western New York, you may notice several people walking on the side of Buffalo’s tallest building.

Although it may seem scary, don’t worry: they’re supposed to be there!

Many people in Western New York are planning to rappel down Seneca One Tower this week, and it’s for a good cause.

What building is this?

The Seneca One Tower is located in downtown Buffalo and is a 529-foot skyscraper. And for several months, residents of the Buffalo area have been raising funds to go On the edge to support the Erie County New York Arc.

The goal of each encore is to raise at least $2,000 for The Arc Erie County New York. You can see the full list of boosters and the funds they raised by clicking here.

What is Arc Erie County?

If you’ve never heard of Arc Erie County, they are a non-profit organization that supports children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to help them achieve quality of life desired and to create opportunities for these people. It’s definitely a good cause, and if you’d like to donate, you can click here.

Who will rappel down Seneca One Tower?

A handful of people will be the first to descend the Seneca One Tower on Thursday, June 27, but the big event will take place throughout the day on Friday, June 28. Most people will be abseiling on Friday.
