Morning walk along the river bank ends with sexual assault

A woman’s morning walk ended in a sexual assault and Omaha police are hoping someone recognizes the suspect. Surveillance video from Omaha’s waterfront area shows the man with the victim at about 6:30 a.m. on the morning of June 15. According to police, the woman said the man, who called himself “Andrew,” started walking with her between 15th and 16th streets downtown. They walked through Gene Leahy Mall and along the riverfront. The woman said that’s where she was sexually assaulted. She went into a building and the suspect followed her to the door. He turned and left when she called 911. Video then showed him walking back the same way he had been before, to Lewis & Clark Landing and then through the mall. The man is described as black, perhaps in his mid-40s, possibly with stubble and a large “P” tattooed on his chest. He was wearing black pants, black tennis shoes and had a white T-shirt with him. A woman’s morning walk ended in a sexual assault and Omaha police are hoping someone will recognize the suspect.

Surveillance video from the Omaha Riverfront showed the man walking with the victim around 6:30 a.m. on the morning of June 15.

According to police, the woman said the man, identified as “Andrew,” was walking with her between 15th and 16th streets downtown.

They walked through Gene Leahy Mall and along the riverfront.

The woman said she was sexually abused there.

She entered a building and the suspect followed her to the door.

He turned and left as she began calling 911.

The video then showed him walking back the same route he had taken before, to Lewis & Clark Landing and then through the mall.

The man is described as black, perhaps in his mid-40s, possibly with stubble and a large “P” tattooed on his chest.

He wore black pants, black tennis shoes and a white t-shirt.

Again he used the name “Andrew”.

If you know who he is, you are asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
