On May 3, 2024 at approximately 3:20 p.m., Kevin Jeffrey Burks (DOB June 30, 1991) succumbed to injuries sustained in the serious incident on April 25, 2024 in the Cutten area of ​​Eureka. More information will be available once a forensic autopsy is completed, which is expected to take place later this week.

This case remains under investigation by the Humboldt County Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT).
