Man arrested for firing shot near children at Bridgeport playground: Police – NBC Connecticut

A man was arrested after he allegedly fired a shot near a playground where children were playing in Bridgeport.

It happened just after 4 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Granfield Avenue.

Police said they received a ShotSpotter notification of a shot fired in the area. Responding officers were advised that a car driven by a man wearing black clothing was speeding away. According to police, after firing his gun, he ran toward Success Village.

Police said they saw several children playing in the playground and also members of the public enjoying the beautiful weather outside.

Authorities found a man matching the suspect’s description acting suspiciously while removing his shirt and face mask to change his appearance.

The man, a 28-year-old Bridgeport resident, was taken into custody and faces multiple charges including illegal discharge of a firearm, breach of peace, risk of injury to a child, reckless endangerment and more.

He is being held on a $25,000 bond. Police said they found three guns with multiple cartridges on him. The weapons were all confiscated.
