Sunday’s incident was notable because it resulted in two people being shot and led the investigation to an apartment where a suspect was hiding and near which at least 20 weapons were stored.

The SPD said it was investigating the incident after two people were shot in the Chinatown-International District shortly after midnight on Sunday. One man was arrested as a result of the shootings.

According to a post in Monday’s SPD Blotter, an officer found two men shot near 8th Avenue South and South King Street at 12:29 a.m. Sunday. SPD members took the victims to a safe location while additional police arrived.

Officers determined the shots came from the window of a nearby second-story apartment. SPD officers found the suspect hiding in the window and arrested him.

The 24-year-old suspect was hospitalized for a medical issue unrelated to the shooting. After his release, the suspect was booked into the King County Jail on two counts of first-degree assault.

A firearm was found near the window that faced a parking lot where the victims were believed to have been shot. Several firearms and firearm accessories were also found in the home and seized as evidence after a search warrant was served, the SPD Blotter post states. The SPD added a photo from the crime scene to its online post showing at least 25 weapons it seized at the scene.

The department concluded its statement by noting that additional charges could follow once detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit complete their investigation.
