Emergency services at Stone Pier

A person, believed to be a young man, was flown by helicopter to hospital in a serious condition following an incident at Stone Pier in Margate today (23 June).

At 1:30 p.m., paramedics, police and rescue helicopters were called to the pier because a person was in distress in the water. According to witnesses, a teenager had jumped from the pier wall.

A South East Coast Ambulance spokesman said: “SECAmb was called just before 1.30pm today (23 June) to reports of a person in distress in the water at Stone Pier in Margate.

“Ambulance crews attended the scene and the individual received emergency treatment before being taken to hospital in a serious condition by the Air Ambulance Charity of Kent, Surrey, Sussex and from there flown to London.

“We would like to thank everyone who helped on site before we arrived.”
