FERRIDAY, Louisiana – A Natchez man died in a boating accident on Lake St. John late Saturday night.

The 69-year-old man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of his family, and his wife were out on a late-night boat ride and had an accident as they were returning to their pier, said Brandy Spears, spokeswoman for the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

“The woman sustained some injuries from falling off the boat. The husband jumped in to help his wife and drowned,” Spears said.

The sheriff’s office received the call at 11:39 p.m. on Saturday. No foul play is suspected. Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries is handling the incident because it was a boating accident.
