50 Cent was able to avoid giving evidence regarding microphone throwing incident

50 Cent has apparently managed to avoid testifying about an incident last year in which he threw a microphone into the crowd at a concert, injuring a radio host.

The G-Unit mogul was sued by Performance 106 host Bryhana Monegain after she was knocked off the microphone and has been looking for an opportunity to question the rapper ever since.

According to court documents about YahooMonegain’s lawyers said: “With the August 5, 2024 mediation date still pending, an order must be entered immediately requiring (50 Cent) to commit to testifying and give a statement.”

Monegain’s legal team had previously scheduled a deposition for June 13 but never got around to questioning 50 Cent. They sought a $5,000 fine against the rap legend, but a judge has not yet ruled on whether 50 Cent will have to answer the deposition.

50 Cent was able to avoid charges over the incident, but Monegain claimed she suffered permanent injuries from being hit with the microphone.

In court documents obtained by TMZMonegain claimed that when 50 noticed his microphone wasn’t working properly during his concert at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, he threw it into the crowd, hitting her in the face and wrist, causing serious and permanent injuries.

Monegain claims she also suffered a concussion and an open cut on her forehead as well as bruises.

Although Monegain is back on the air at the LA radio station, she claims she continues to suffer emotional distress and is suing for damages for loss of income, medical expenses and compensatory damages.

50 Cent had previously denied any intent to harm anyone and was acquitted of all criminal charges when the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office ruled there was no case to prosecute.

Following the incident, the rapper’s attorney released a statement saying: “To be clear: As I told the LAPD this afternoon, my client Curtis (aka 50 Cent) would never intentionally hit anyone with a microphone. Anyone who says otherwise does not know all the facts and is misinformed.”

50 himself has not publicly commented on the incident, but video footage has surfaced of him throwing the microphone during a performance with YG. The rapper can be seen growing increasingly frustrated with his microphone not working properly before throwing it into the crowd.
