The investigation is ongoing into a fatal traffic accident that occurred at 3:42 a.m. Tuesday morning on U.S. Route 50 near the entrance to the Walmart Distribution Center west of Olney. According to Illinois State Police, Aaron Hunt, 25, of Olney, was traveling east on U.S. Route 50 when a westbound semi-truck driven by Loghman Maroufi, 46, of Smyrna, Tennessee, turned left onto the access road to the distribution center and entered Hunt’s motorcycle path. Maroufi was not injured in the accident, but Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck was charged with failure to yield to oncoming traffic, failure to yield right of way when making a left turn, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. US Route 50 was closed for nearly three hours for cleanup and accident reconstruction. Illinois State Police were assisted at the scene by firefighters and police officers from Olney and Richland County.
