Your first warning of scorching summer heat

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Cloud cover kept temperatures below average across the Mid-South today, but the return of sunshine and a gradual increase in humidity will push temperatures above average and push the heat index into triple digits by the end of the week, where it will remain well into next week.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy with a light easterly wind and lows overnight around 25 degrees.

THURSDAY: Partly cloudy with a southeast wind 5 to 10 mph and an afternoon high in the 90s.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy with a light southeast wind and lows overnight again around 25 degrees.

FRIDAY: Partly cloudy with highs of around 35 degrees and lows of around 24 degrees at night.

THE WEEKEND: On Saturday it will be mostly sunny with highs of around 35 degrees and lows of around 24 degrees. On Sunday it will be partly cloudy with highs of around 35 degrees in the afternoon and lows of around 25 degrees at night.

NEXT WEEK: Monday and Tuesday will be partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon, with highs of around 35 degrees and lows at night between 25 and 25 degrees. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms, with highs of around 35 degrees in the afternoon.
