What we know about why some Kansas residents received an alert about a wanted Oklahoma murder suspect

TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) – If you’re in northeast Kansas, you may have received an alert on your phone Tuesday morning about a wanted murder suspect out of Oklahoma.

According to a spokesperson for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, they are currently uncertain as to the whereabouts of the suspect, Stacy Lee Drake, 50, of Birmingham, Alabama. They are contacting as many people and partners as possible to locate the missing suspect.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation does not issue alerts or monitor the alert system, so they do not know why some phones in Kansas received the alert. The OSBI was not aware of any specific connection Drake has to Kansas. His last known residence was Birmingham, Alabama, and he was last seen outside a motel in Morrilton, Arkansas, according to the Arkansas Dept. of Public Safety.

Drake is wanted in connection with three murders in Oklahoma stemming from two separate car thefts. In addition, Drake is also wanted on several warrants from multiple jurisdictions, with charges of aggravated robbery, auto theft and murder, according to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety website.

Drake is 6’1″ tall and weighs 185 lbs. The wanted murder suspect is a white man with brown hair and brown eyes.

He is believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees the suspect should not approach the man. If you see him, call 911 immediately.
