5-year-old boy dies in hospital almost a week after pool accident

A 5-year-old boy died Wednesday at Children’s Hospital following a swimming pool incident on June 6, nearly a week earlier, according to a Hennepin County coroner’s report.

The boy was identified as Vishagan Alagushankar of Edina. The incident occurred shortly after midnight at an apartment complex at 7330 Gallagher Drive in Edina.

The manner and cause of death was accidental drowning, the report states.
