Rapid City man arrested after chase

RAPID CITY, SD (KEVN) – A Rapid City man was arrested this morning following a chase on I-90 near Sturgis.

Meade County Sheriff Pat West said the chase began on I-90 at mile marker 52 when a deputy attempted to stop a black Chevy Suburban that had a traffic complaint against it.

The suspect was later identified as Steven Frost of Rapid City.

West says he drove away from the traffic stop in the westbound lane. Frost exited the interstate, collided with another car at Exit 32, continued on Junction Avenue and crashed into the front of the Iron Horse Saloon.

The chase continued east of Sturgis, where West said the suspect turned onto Fort Meade Way, crashed through a fence in Pleasant Valley and then rejoined I-90 eastbound at Exit 37.

Frost was eventually stopped at exit 48, where authorities used nail barricades, and he exited the car as it caught fire.

West says there was a brief foot chase, but Frost was arrested. The incident remains under investigation, but no injuries were reported.
