Teenager from Elk City in hospital after rollover accident

An Elk City teenager is in critical condition after his vehicle rolled over south of Elk City Saturday morning.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol accident report, the crash occurred at 1:47 a.m. Lake Wimberly, 19, was traveling north on OK-6 4.4 miles south of Elk City when, for an unknown reason, his 2005 Chevy Silverado left the road to the right, oversteered to the left and began rolling. According to troopers, the pickup truck rolled an undetermined number of times, ejecting Wimberly before coming to a stop on its wheels.

Wimberly was then flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted in critical condition with head and internal torso injuries.

OHP said the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
