MASON CITY, Iowa. – Mason City police are asking the public to avoid the area of 4th Street SE between Virginia and Vermont due to an “active burglary investigation” at a nearby residence.

Police Chief Jeff Brinkley told KIMT News 3 that officers believe the suspect may still be in the house, but he would not go so far as to call it a standoff.
