Mumbai:

The FSSAI office in the western region has cancelled the license of an ice cream manufacturer in Pune after a 26-year-old doctor from Malad West on Wednesday claimed that he found a human finger in an ice cream cone.

“The premises of the ice cream manufacturer were inspected by a team from the FSSAI office in the Western Region and its license was suspended,” the FSSAI said in a reply to ANI.

However, the report from the forensic laboratory is still pending.

The FSSAI further stated that the ice cream manufacturer who supplied the ice cream was based in Indapur, Pune and also had a central license.

“The manufacturer is based in Indapur, Pune and has a central license,” FSSAI said.

For further investigation, the FSSAI team has collected samples from the seller’s premises.

“The state FDA has also inspected the seller’s premises in Mumbai and collected samples of the batch,” the food safety regulator added.

According to plaintiff Branded Ferro, he was visited by his sister and ordered three Yumno ice creams through a grocery app, which arrived at 10:10 p.m.

In his report to the police, he stated that when he took a bite from a bag, he felt something unusual in his mouth and when he looked closer, he saw finger-like flesh.

He later took a photo and shared it on the company’s Instagram page.
