Grand Forks man arrested after resisting police, charged with assault and meth possession – Grand Forks Herald

GRAND FORKS – A man originally suspected of domestic violence faces multiple charges after resisting arriving police officers.

According to a news release from the Grand Forks Police Department, at 11:55 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of North Fifth Street for a report of domestic violence. When officers arrived, they found a victim with a significant injury to her face.

The press release states that GFPD officers remained on scene and attempted to make contact with the suspect, Mark Boyer of Grand Forks. However, Boyer would not come out to speak with officers, so officers gained entry to the home.

Then, according to the GFPD media report, “an officer sprayed OC spray into the room where Mark was. Officers were then able to take Mark into custody.” Boyer resisted officers as they escorted him to the police vehicle, the report states.

He was taken to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center and charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and possession of meth.

The case is being investigated.

Our newsroom occasionally reports under the name “Staff.” The “Staff” name is often used when rewriting basic news briefs from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure that requires little or no reporting. Sometimes this name is used when a story has multiple authors or when the story consists of compiling previously reported news from various sources. When outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
