Motorcyclist found with ‘fresh blood on face’ after allegedly shooting another rider

Jason Bryan Stolworthy, 46, was booked into the Iron County Jail on charges of aggravated assault by discharging a firearm resulting in serious bodily injury, obstruction of justice and reckless driving and reckless endangerment, according to a police affidavit.

On Wednesday afternoon, Cedar City Police received a report of a road rage incident involving two men involved in a physical altercation in the area of ​​Main and Center Streets.

According to the affidavit, the two men drove away, but motorcyclist Stolworthy “aggressively followed the other vehicle” and a witness stated that the “motorcycle was weaving back and forth between streets.”

Witnesses told police that Stolworthy shot at the car and driver near the intersection of Fiddlers Canyon Drive and Main Street. Stolworthy then fled the scene into a residential area.

Cellphone footage provided to police shows the driver of the car walking toward Stolworthy and Stolworthy pulling out a gun. “Multiple gunshots” could be heard in the footage, the affidavit states.

The affidavit states that officers encountered Stolworthy at a nearby residence as he attempted to load the motorcycle into the back of a truck.

According to the affidavit, when Stolworthy saw an officer, he “put his hands on his head and walked toward him.”

Police reported that a black handgun with a missing magazine was found in the driveway of the residence and that Stolworthy had “fresh blood on his face.”

“The motorcycle’s license plate was partially bent, a practice typically used by motorcyclists to conceal their license plate,” the affidavit states.

After officers obtained a search warrant for Stolworthy’s home and vehicles, they found a magazine and a loose bullet on the floor that fit the gun, as well as clothing that matched that of the motorcyclist in the cellphone footage.

According to the affidavit, the victim was shot in the upper chest and had to be flown to a local hospital. The hospital reports that the victim suffered severe injuries to his ribs and lungs.
