Second murder investigation underway in Birmingham within hours

Birmingham police are investigating a second homicide within hours Friday. Officers say when they were called to another crime scene in the 2200 block of Bessemer Road, they received calls about gunshots and a car crash on 9th Street West. There they found a black SUV with a man inside suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe the car collided with a nearby residence and then came to a stop. It is currently unclear when the shots were fired. While they do not have anyone in custody for this shooting, officers say given the location where the homicide occurred, they hope to gather enough information to make an arrest.
