Man sexually abuses two people in Irvington, including a minor: authorities

An Essex County man accused of sexually assaulting two people in Irvington was arrested in Virginia, authorities said.

IRVINGTON, NJ — An Essex County man who allegedly sexually assaulted two people in Irvington this week has been arrested and is in custody, authorities announced Thursday.

Caream Davis, 46, of Irvington, was arrested in connection with two assaults that occurred in the community on Monday, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office and the Irvington Department of Public Safety.

To protect the identities of the victims, one of whom is an adult and one of whom is a minor, no exact details of the attacks will be released, authorities said.

Detectives from the Essex County District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit identified Davis as a suspect. Members of the U.S. Marshals Service arrested him late Wednesday evening in Richmond, Virginia.

Authorities charged Davis with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, one count of attempted first-degree murder, one count of first-degree kidnapping, one count of attempted second-degree sexual assault, two counts of second-degree aggravated assault, two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, one count of third-degree criminal false imprisonment and one count of third-degree terroristic threatening.

Davis is being held in Virginia until he is extradited to New Jersey, authorities said. No further information was immediately available.
