FAA is investigating whether Boeing falsified 787 inspection reports

The Federal Aviation Administration said Monday that it is investigating whether Boeing employees may have skipped key inspections of certain 787 Dreamliner planes and falsified reports to claim the work was complete.

The agency said Boeing voluntarily disclosed the problem last month and told regulators that inspections of the areas of the jet where the wings connect to the fuselage may not have been performed as required. Boeing said it is reinspecting all 787 planes in production and that Boeing needs to develop a plan for the planes in service that may not have received full inspections.
