Lauren Boebert under fire for theater harassment incident

Representative. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) was heavily questioned during a recent Republican primary debate in Colorado. Local 9News anchor Kyle Clark didn’t mince her words when she asked Boebert why she was thrown out of a Denver theater for disturbing the peace. Security cameras at the theater later showed Boebert and her date groping each other during the September 2023 show.

“That was about the mildest innuendo he could have made. But do you want to talk about the theater thing?” Clark said at one point during Friday’s debate for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.

“Sure. So, Kyle, of course I owned up to my night in Denver. And, you know, I’ve apologized publicly and I’m grateful for the grace and mercy that was shown to me. But I’m not going to continue to live in shame and let it get to me. And, you know, I’d like to return to my legislative career,” Boebert replied when Clark interrupted.

“We will not do that. You had plenty of time to answer the question. You chose not to, that’s fine. And you apologized for the incident in the theater,” Clark noted.

“I certainly did,” Boebert interjected.

“And I just want to make sure. Did you apologize for the behavior you and your date displayed?” Clark added when Boebert interrupted him.

“Pardon

“I did,” Clark said, regaining control of himself, adding, “Or did you apologize for lying to the voters about your actions that night and for being disrespectful to the service workers that night? What exactly did you apologize for?”

Boebert responded: “I don’t think it was disrespect. There were things that were taken completely out of context.”

“There is video of your interactions with service workers. I’m just asking if you apologize for lying to voters or to the theater’s operations,” Clark countered, referring to surveillance footage showing the conservative Republican yelling at theater workers as they kicked her out.

“I mean, I think it was very misrepresented. I apologize, Kyle Clark, for taking footage and releasing it and for people to see that in a very private moment,” Boebert replied, taking a swipe at Clark.

“Of course, it was very important to find out whether you were telling the truth or whether an authority was lying about your behavior,” Clark responded, explaining why the media showed footage of Boebert’s behavior in the theater even though she initially denied it.

The GOP held another debate on Saturday, which Boebert skipped. Boebert was endorsed by the former president Donald Trump after switching congressional districts this year following a narrow re-election victory in Colorado’s 3rd District in 2022.
