Alone at home while her parents went to vote, a girl in Odisha was raped and murdered

A man is said to have raped and killed a seven-year-old girl while she was home alone and her parents wanted to vote, police said on Sunday.

The incident occurred on Saturday in a village in the Kuliana police station area of ​​Mayurbhjanj district in the state of Odisha, it said.

The 23-year-old man went to the girl’s house and took her near a river where he allegedly raped her and then strangled her to death, they added.

Villagers found the girl’s body and arrested the accused. They later handed him over to the police.
