Newark: Four more boys arrested on suspicion of raping teenage girl at Nottinghamshire sports grounds | UK news

Four more boys – including a 12-year-old – were arrested on suspicion of raping a young girl in Nottinghamshire.

Police received a report that a young girl had been attacked on the sports fields on Yorke Drive in Newark in the early evening of May 25.

Four boys aged 12, 13 and two aged 14 were arrested on suspicion of rape. Nottinghamshire That is what the police said.

They have since been released on bail and under strict conditions.

Four other boys – two aged 15 and two aged 16 – were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of rape.

All four are still free on bail, officials said.

Several people have assisted police with their investigation and “investigations continue to progress rapidly,” said Detective Inspector Amy Revill.

She added: “I would like to once again urge local people and anyone with information to please contact us.”

“We have made four more arrests in this case.”

The girl and her family are supported by specially trained officials.

Inspector Charlotte Ellam, district manager for Newark, said: “I understand the concern this incident has caused in our community.

“But I want to make it clear that the team of investigators investigating this incident is working around the clock and we will find out exactly what happened.”

“We have been conducting additional patrols in this area and will continue to do so.”
