Child dies in accident on the south side of Indy

INDIANAPOLIS–This morning a child died in an accident in south Indianapolis.

Shortly before 11 a.m., IMPD said it responded to a “personal injury accident” in the 8700 block of Meadowridge Lane, near State Road 135 and County Line Road.

According to IMPD, a father was backing up a truck that also had a 4-year-old inside. The father got out to make sure he was backing up straight and got back in, but did not realize the child had gotten out and was behind the truck. The father then accidentally ran over the child.

Paramedics took the child to hospital in critical condition. He later died there.
