Lebanese army attacked by Israeli machine guns

“In view of the Israeli operations in Rafah, countless families are once again forced to flee,” the aid organization said on X.
The aid organization had recently resumed its work in Gaza after suspending its activities in April.

RAFAH, Palestinian Territories: World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that distributes meals in war-torn Gaza, said it had suspended operations in the southern Palestinian city of Rafah due to “ongoing attacks” in the area.
The US-based charity was founded by famous Spanish-American chef Jose Andres to provide food to communities affected by humanitarian crises and disasters.
“In the face of Israeli operations in Rafah, countless families are once again forced to flee,” the charity said late Tuesday on the social media platform X.
“The ongoing attacks have forced us to suspend operations at our main kitchen in Rafah and relocate many of our community kitchens further north.”
The aid organization had recently resumed its work in Gaza after it had suspended operations in April after seven of its staff were killed in three air strikes by an Israeli drone.
The deaths of an Australian, three Britons, a North American, a Palestinian and a Pole sparked worldwide outrage over Israel’s military operations.
An internal Israeli military investigation found that the drone team made an “operational miscalculation” after spotting a suspected Hamas gunman firing from the roof of an aid truck.
Fighting has intensified in Rafah in recent weeks after the Israeli military began its ground assault there on May 7 after taking control of the border crossing between Gaza and Egypt.
Gaza officials said an Israeli attack set fire to a crowded camp for displaced people in Rafah on Sunday, killing 45 people and wounding dozens.
The Israeli military said it had launched an investigation into the attack, but stressed that the ammunition used in the attack “could not” have caused the deadly fire alone.
Since the attack on Rafah began, it has become more difficult to deliver aid supplies to Gaza, aid organizations say.
Even if medical and other aid reaches the Gaza Strip, the transport and delivery of goods in both the south and the north remains “very difficult,” Rik Peeperkorn, the World Health Organization’s representative in the Palestinian territories, told AFP on Tuesday.
