“It was terrible” – Witnesses report motorcycle accident with two dead and one injured

Witnesses report what they saw shortly before a fatal motorcycle accident in which two people died on Saturday.

As reported in News Center 7 at 5, On Saturday evening, police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Main Street (SR-48) and Philadelphia Drive because of an accident involving a motorcycle and a car.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s preliminary investigation revealed that an SUV driven by 31-year-old Meleah Walker of Dayton was turning left from northbound State Route 48 onto Philadelphia Drive when she was struck by a motorcycle driven by 58-year-old Shawn Norman of Dayton. Norman was traveling southbound on State Route 48.

Norman and his passenger, 67-year-old Clarence Weatherby of Dayton, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

People who live near the accident told us the crash didn’t sound that bad.

“From what I heard, it sounded like someone hit a dog,” Courtney Courtney said.

Courtney lives in a nearby apartment building and heard a strange noise. Then she went outside to see if anyone needed help.

She immediately realized that it was a serious accident.

“I saw the sheriff, I saw the ambulance, I saw the fire trucks, I saw all of that,” Courtney said.

She said a large group of people, including other bikers, had gathered at the scene of the accident.

“It was terrible,” she said.

The crash remains under investigation by the OSP.
