Girl killed, man injured after shooting at Mount Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach – The Virginian-Pilot

VIRGINIA BEACH – A girl was killed and a man was injured when they were shot in the city’s Mount Trashmore Park Saturday night.

According to police, the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. near a fairground that opened in the park on Friday evening. Neither the age of the victims nor the severity of the man’s injuries were disclosed.

Police and paramedics were nearby and were able to quickly reach the victims and begin searching for suspects, police said. Both victims were taken to a hospital for treatment, but the girl was later pronounced dead.

“This is a chaotic crime scene that will take some time to investigate,” a police spokeswoman said in an email to The Virginian-Pilot. “As soon as we know more, we will update you.”

The spokeswoman said late Saturday night that she had no information about the man’s condition. She also said officials were still in the process of identifying the victims and determining their exact ages.
