Regular police investigate firearm incident

On Thursday, at approximately 3:25 p.m., Normal police posted on Facebook asking residents to avoid the area between Linden Street and School Street and urging those already there to stay in their homes.

At 5 p.m., Community Services Officer Brad Park said the area was safe and there was no ongoing danger to the public, but residents were still asked to stay away from the area.

Further information was not available Thursday afternoon, Park said.

Police remained on site while they investigated the scene. Constitution Trail was also closed to pedestrians.
