Grand jury indicts Irish firefighter accused of rape in Boston hotel room

A grand jury has indicted an Irish firefighter on rape charges in connection with allegations that he raped a woman in a Boston hotel room over St. Patrick’s Day weekend, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Dublin resident Terence Crosbie, 37, is accused of raping a 28-year-old woman at Omni Parker House on March 15. He is scheduled to be arraigned June 3 in Suffolk Superior Court, prosecutors said Monday.

According to the police report, the 28-year-old victim reported the rape the morning after the attack. She told police she met a man at the Black Rose – an Irish pub near Faneuil Hall – around 11:30 p.m. the night before and later returned to his room at the hotel, where they had consensual sex.

The man and woman then fell asleep in separate beds in the hotel room, the report said. At around 2 a.m., the woman woke up to a stranger raping her. She told him to stop and eventually managed to push him away.

The woman remembered the man saying, “This guy is sleeping. I know you want this,” the report said. He also tried to kiss her several times and push her against the wall as she tried to leave.

The woman then texted her friend and told her she had been attacked, the report said. Hotel security footage matched the woman’s story, and she identified a man who had shared a hotel room with Crosbie as the man with whom she had consensual sex.

In an interview with police, Crosbie said he saw the man he was staying with enter the room with the woman and leave to give them privacy, the report said. Hours later, he entered the room after knocking and saw the woman leave but did not interact with her, he told police.

Massachusetts State Police arrested Crosbie on the tarmac at Logan Airport just before the plane he was on was scheduled to depart for Ireland, prosecutors previously said. After an interview with police, he rescheduled his flight to an earlier day.

During his arraignment, a judge sentenced Crosbie to $100,000 bail, prosecutors said. The judge also ordered him to surrender his passport and remain in Massachusetts.
