Kano Commissioner comes in and vows justice for sexually abused siblings

The Kano State Commissioner for Women, Children and the Disabled, Aisha Saji, has intervened in the case of two minor siblings who were allegedly sexually abused by their father’s boyfriend to ensure justice for the victims.

A statement from the ministry’s Director of Public Enlightenment Aishatu Haruna, a copy of which was provided to LEADERSHIP on Wednesday, said the commissioner became interested in the case shortly after he appeared on the local radio program “Yanchi da Rayuwa” has been published. .

The commissioner immediately instructed two directors and an experienced ministry employee to make contact with the victims if possible and give them feedback.

According to the statement, during a meeting with one of the victims and his mother in their office, the commissioner was shocked at the extent of the damage inflicted on the eight-year-old boy, whose severely torn anus was stitched with corrective stitches.

Moved by the victims’ plight, Saji pledged to pursue the case to a conclusion and immediately made efforts to secure a government legal luminary who would help the victims achieve a legal victory.

She also offered to pay off the debts incurred by the months-long treatment of the victims, who had not yet fully recovered from the physical anal injuries, and to continue supporting the family with clothes, money, a bag of rice and corn.

Earlier, the victim’s mother said she was informed about the incident by her ex-husband, who withdrew the case and persuaded her to drop the matter. However, she decided to reopen the case with the police and then take it to court. The alleged perpetrator was released on bail despite the evidence of the doctor who had examined her children.

She further noted that during one of the visits, a doctor flushed out accumulated worms in her anus and stitched up one of the tears he suffered while the other victim was excreting feces uncontrollably.

However, the mother said that although the case is already in court, she is yet to appear before the judge.

In their separate comments, the victims, ages eight and 10, said they were sexually abused by the suspect, who often threatened to harm them if they told anyone about the abuse.

However, they revealed that despite the threat, they reported the matter to their father, who asked them to remain silent and warned them to keep the matter secret.
