A woman was reportedly sexually assaulted at Mount Coot-tha

A young woman was reportedly sexually assaulted along with a fugitive man on a popular hiking trail at Mount Coot-tha today.

It is understood Queensland Police received reports of an attempted sexual assault on a woman in her 20s on the Cockatoo Trail at Mount Coot-tha at around 10.15am today.

According to a report from 9 News Queensland, the woman was said to have been pushed to the ground and held before she managed to escape.

The alleged perpetrator then fled the scene, sparking a police search for the man through bushland at the popular hiking spot, 9 News claimed.

It is understood police have been unable to locate the man and the perpetrator remains on the run.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to come forward.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
