Newark police are currently investigating a shooting incident in the city’s South District that occurred Saturday just before 1 p.m.A ShotSpotter device was activated and alerted officers, who were dispatched to the area of ​​393 Hawthorne Avenue following reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, police found several bullet casings at the scene, but fortunately no injuries were reported.

The area was thoroughly searched, but no victims were found, and the suspect responsible for the shooting evaded capture and remains at large.

The motive behind the shooting is not yet clear.
