Police are investigating a death in a shooting in Kansas City, Missouri

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – One person was killed in a shooting early Saturday morning in Kansas City, Missouri, according to police.

Around 3 a.m., KCPD responded to a “disturbance involving a weapon” near 12th Street and Benton Boulevard – a few blocks north of Interstate 70. According to police, the call was updated to a shooting not long after.

Police said when they arrived they spoke to a person at a nearby store who said their friend had been shot. The officers then found an unconscious man in a car who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound.

EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Officials say the circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown at this time. However, an investigation is ongoing, homicide detectives are collecting evidence and witness statements and are actively trying to identify a suspect.

Police have not arrested any suspects.
