UT police seek suspect in connection with shooting

AUSTIN (KXAN) – The University of Texas Police Department is searching for a suspect believed to be connected to a shooting that occurred near Moody Center earlier this month.

On July 13, around 8 p.m., UTPD officers responded to a report of shots fired at 2001 Robert Dedman Drive. Officers from UTPD, the Austin Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety “immediately searched” the area but were unable to locate a suspect, UTPD said in a news release.


The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, between 20 and 30 years old, between 5’7″ and 5’9″ tall, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black Miami Heat cap with a red visor, a gray Reebok logo hoodie, dark denim shorts, white Nike shoes with a black Nike swoosh, and a black backpack, according to UTPD.

Tipsters can also call Capital Area Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS (8477) or visit the Crime Stoppers website to submit a tip. Information provided will be kept anonymous and tipsters are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000, the news release states.
