Florida man arrested after writing death threats against Donald Trump and JD Vance

JUNIPER, Fla. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) – A Florida man is in custody after threatening to kill former President Donald Trump, his Vice President JD Vance and their families.

The arrest came a week after the recent assassination attempt on the former president during a rally in Pennsylvania.

Neighbors were very surprised by the arrest of Michael M. Wiseman, which took place on Friday. Although they barely knew Wiseman, neighbors described him as a quiet man who walked three small dogs. Another person even described him as a nice guy.

Wiseman’s wife said she was embarrassed and ashamed.

Juniper police said they launched the investigation based on tips from the public. Authorities said they found no gun or mental health issues with Wiseman. Police also said they took the case more seriously after Saturday’s attempted murder.

“Here at the Jupiter Police Department, we take all threats to people seriously. But to shed light on the events of a few days ago, we went a step further. If you’re going to sit down at the keyboard and post something on social media, really think about what you’re saying or posting.”

Mike Barbera, Deputy Chief of Police, Jupiter Police Department

Records show Wiseman is a registered Democrat.

His arrest came after the Secret Service had increased security measures around the former president since last Saturday’s assassination attempt.

School buses currently line the area where the former president’s plane is scheduled to land on Sunday. There will also be road closures near Mar-a-Lago starting at 5 a.m. Eastern time.
