Train accident in UP Gonda live: Mamata Banerjee expresses her condolences

UP Gonda train accident live: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday expressed grief and dismay over the derailment of a train in Uttar Pradesh and questioned the role of the central government in ensuring the safety of passengers, news agency PTI reported.

Banerjee expressed her condolences to the families of those killed in the accident. In a post on X, she said, “Sad to hear of yet another tragic rail accident today in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh! Yet another train has derailed, this time the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express! What are the railway authorities doing? What is the Indian government doing? Passenger safety is the top priority. When will the government come to its senses?!”

“My condolences to the bereaved, my prayers are with the injured,” she added.
