Sentence announced for mother at center of AMBER alert in Lakewood

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The 30-year-old Lakewood mother who was convicted of stabbing her husband to death and then fleeing with their daughter without permission will learn her fate at sentencing Thursday morning.

Ariel Walters pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault and one count of child endangerment. She will be sentenced on July 18.

On December 24, 2023, Walters stabbed her husband, Quantez Walters, to death in Cove Park in Lakewood and then fled with their one-year-old daughter. Quantez survived his injuries.

Police issued an AMBER alert and Walters turned himself in to Lakewood police on December 30, 2023.

Her daughter, Choice Walters, was not injured.

Her sentencing will be announced at 9 a.m. in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas.
