Man arrested and charged with murder in Russell shooting

The Louisville Metro Police Department has arrested and charged a man with murder following a fatal shooting in the Russell neighborhood last week. LMPD responded to S 26th and W Chestnut Streets around 3:17 a.m. on July 10 for a shooting. Watch our previous coverage in the player above. Police arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. On Wednesday, police arrested 31-year-old Alonzo Thomas in connection with the shooting. Police said Thomas and the victim got into a physical altercation in a parking lot that morning. An arrest warrant states Thomas believed the other man had taken the gun away from his girlfriend. After Thomas got the gun back, he reloaded it and shot the man in the head. LMPD says the shooting was caught on surveillance video. Thomas is charged with murder. His arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

When police arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Wednesday, police arrested 31-year-old Alonzo Thomas in connection with the shooting.

According to police, a physical altercation occurred between Thomas and the victim in a parking lot that morning.

An arrest warrant states that Thomas believed the other man had taken the gun from his girlfriend. When Thomas got the gun back, he reloaded it and shot the man in the head.

According to LMPD, the shooting was captured on surveillance video.

Thomas is charged with murder.

His arraignment is scheduled for Thursday morning at 9 a.m.
