Man dies after being hit by train in South Austin

Austin police responded to a 911 call when they found an injured man.

AUSTIN, Texas – A man died Tuesday night in South Austin after being hit by a train.

According to the Austin Police Department (APD), officers responded to a 911 call from the 1700 block of W. Stassney Ln., near Menchaca Road, shortly before 10:20 p.m.

APD, Austin-Travis County Medical Services (ATCEMS) and a coroner arrived at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at approximately 10:53 p.m.

This incident is currently being investigated by the Homicide Squad, but it is not a murder.
