Woman arrested on suspicion of arson in Sandpoint

SANDPOINT, Idaho – Sandpoint police say they have arrested a woman suspected of arson in connection with a fire that broke out at an Army Surplus store on July 4.

Police said they identified 50-year-old Jennifer S. Meyer of Sandpoint as a suspect after evaluating numerous clues and video footage related to the investigation.

Police questioned Meyer on Tuesday before taking her into custody on a first-degree arson charge. Police said Meyer will make her first court appearance on Wednesday, July 17.

Police are still asking for help in determining the motive for the arson. Anyone with information or who spoke with Meyer on July 4 is asked to contact Sandpoint Police at 208-265-1482.

Sandpoint police say this is an ongoing investigation.
