Boston Police Seize Nine Mopeds from Downtown Crossing – NBC Boston

According to police, nine mopeds were confiscated in downtown Boston on Monday.

Shortly after 5 p.m., officers conducted checks on moped and motorcycle lanes near the intersection of Franklin Street and Washington Street, Boston police said.

The officers, who were on foot, stopped the vehicles in the pedestrian zone on Washington Street, where, according to police, cars are not allowed.

The nine mopeds were confiscated for various violations of the road traffic law, police said.

Police reminded residents that vehicles are strictly prohibited in the Downtown Crossing pedestrian mall. Other pedestrian malls are located at the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway, Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall.

Earlier this month, 13 mopeds were seized and three people arrested following increasing complaints that mopeds were blocking traffic and driving erratically in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood.
